Drag icon Edie is turning up the heat in Puerto Vallarta with her sizzling new solo show, Queen of the Desert, playing April 13 and 16 at The Palm Cabaret.

Direct from a whirlwind year-long tour and a celebrated 12-year run in Las Vegas, Edie’s latest performance is part confessional, part camp tribute — and 100% showstopper.

“It’s a dry heat,” she jokes, as the show blazes through tales of her life near one of the hottest places on Earth. With high-octane choreography, live vocals and signature leggy glamour, Edie guides audiences through a scorching journey from the Vegas strip to the sun-drenched badlands she now calls home. The performance is also a loving nod to the cult film Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which recently marked its 30th anniversary.

Behind the lashes and the laughter is Christopher Kenney, a Portland, Oregon, native who began dancing at just 8 years old. By 17, he had launched a professional ballet career that included stints with Ballet Oregon, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Les Ballets Grandiva, before transitioning to the New York stage.

Kenney’s alter ego, Edie, was born one Halloween night in the West Village and quickly made a name for herself in New York nightlife. Hosting weekly shows, earning nods from HX Magazine and the Glammy Awards, and headlining her autobiographical off-Broadway musical LEGS!, Edie emerged as one of the city’s most celebrated drag performers. Her credits include appearances on HBO’s Sex and the City, MTV’s Video Music Awards, and Rosie O’Donnell’s talk show.

In 2006, Edie joined the cast of Broadway’s The Threepenny Opera, starring alongside Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper at Studio 54. But it was a life-changing call from Cirque du Soleil that would catapult her to Las Vegas stardom. Cast as the Emcee in Zumanity: The Sensual Side of Cirque du Soleil, she performed over 5,600 shows for more than 6 million guests at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino.

Her Vegas reign didn’t stop there. Edie created Faaabulous! The Show, the only all live-singing drag revue in Las Vegas, which was named Best Drag Production two years in a row — besting RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!

Along the way, she’s made guest appearances on reality TV shows including Say Yes to the Dress, Manzo’d With Children, and Carnival King on Food Network, and starred in a LasVegas.com campaign alongside “Drag Race” alum Alyssa Edwards. She’s also been named Grand Marshal of both Provincetown’s Carnival Parade and San Francisco Pride.

Offstage, Edie is a dedicated philanthropist, lending her time to local charities and LGBTQ+ causes nationwide.

Now, with Queen of the Desert, Edie returns to Puerto Vallarta for two nights only, offering fans a rare chance to catch her live in an intimate setting.

Performances are set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 16 at The Palm Cabaret. Tickets are available at thepalmcabaret.com or at the door.
