The Vallarta Gay+ Community Center completed a vaccination campaign October 16 and 17, administering 370 doses to clients and other members of the community.
According to executive director Pedro Lopez, the vaccines were supplied by the Secretaría de Salud and transported by a nurse from the Secretaría from Guadalajara.
“We provided 370 shots over two days,” Lopez said. “Most were for our clients, but we also offered them to non-clients who needed vaccines. The VG+CC team really came together to make this happen.”
The vaccines administered included 156 doses for HPV, 110 for influenza, seven for pneumococcal disease, 29 for tetanus, 44 for hepatitis B and 24 for measles.
Lopez said this was the first time the Secretaría de Salud provided Gardasil 9, the latest version of the HPV vaccine, for the Center’s campaign.
“This was the first time we were able to offer Gardasil 9,” he said. “It’s the most current HPV vaccine, and we were glad to make it available.”
The Center plans to hold its next vaccination campaign in February 2026.
