Memo Huerta Named Editor of O&APV

Guadalajara Native Brings Experience

Esta publicación también está disponible en: Español

Memo Huerta has been named editor of Out & About Puerto Vallarta. Huerta, originally from Guadalajara, grew up in Texas but spent recent years in his native city getting reacquainted with Mexico. He’s recently moved to Puerto Vallarta permanently, having found a city, he says, with a balance of both cultures.

“I started coming to PV and I quickly realized how special this city is.  It’s a place where both my cultures merge almost seamlessly,” he said, “the LGBTQ community is one of the friendliest and most exciting I’ve ever encountered. I knew I had to move here and experience it for myself.”

He holds a degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M International University and started his experience in marketing and public relations while working for PR agencies and local magazines in south Texas.

Once in Guadalajara he got a Masters in Strategic Communication from Universidad Panamericana and continued to work with Mexican brands and clients as well as his own personal projects.

“We are so excited to welcome Memo to the team,” said Jerry Jones, publisher. “We will be getting him out to meet community leaders and start his listening tour so that he can plug-in with the local LGBTQ community. He brings with him some great experience that will be of great benefit to our readers and advertisers.”

“When I arrived in Guadalajara I was lucky enough to meet the amazing people at Integra-Tres PR agency and quickly started working for them.  That opened up a new world for me in Guadalajara and I was able to get a feel for the city, almost as if I had grown up there.” He added, “I hope the same will happen for me in Puerto Vallarta, the cities have strong ties and I hope to strengthen that feeling of closeness as editor.”

With experience in the restaurant and hotel business, he hopes to build strong ties with the local businesses of PV.

“This pandemic has been a very difficult learning experience for all of us and I think it’s important businesses are supported by local and visiting patrons.  We have to be there and show up for our local businesses, that’s what a community does and that’s the idea behind my work.”

Memo has already started his work and is busy working with the Out & About Puerto Vallarta team and will be out and about engaging with community and business leaders and readers.

“I’m excited to get to work and to get to know our community better.  There’s so many stories waiting to be told and interesting news breaking all the time.  It’s a vibrant and embracing city and I’ll do my best to transmit that through our pages.”
